Welcome to Mackay RDA!

At Mackay RDA, we believe horse riding can change lives. Our centre welcomes children and adults living with disability to experience the freedom, balance and confidence that come from working alongside a horse. Established in 1997, we’re proud to provide a friendly, purpose-built space in North Mackay where riders, families and volunteers come together to learn, laugh and grow.

Our programs combine classical riding techniques with fun, therapeutic activities that improve posture, mobility and self-belief. Each session is guided by accredited coaches and supported by volunteers who share our passion for helping others.

Our Current Timetable

We run our programs throughout school terms with sessions held every second Tuesday and one weekend day each month. Riders are grouped by ability and supported by accredited coaches and volunteers who tailor lessons to individual goals. Our sessions combine skill-building, movement and fun—encouraging progress both in and out of the saddle.

Volunteering, Sponsorships & Donations

Mackay RDA runs entirely with the help of volunteers and the generosity of our local community. From horse leading and side-walking to grooming, fundraising and maintenance, there’s a place here for everyone. You don’t need horse experience—just a willingness to learn and a big heart. We provide full training and support to help you feel confident and capable in your role.

We’re also incredibly grateful to those who choose to support us through donations or sponsorships. Every dollar helps feed and care for our horses, train our volunteers and keep our facilities safe and welcoming. You can sponsor a horse, contribute equipment or make a one-off donation—every act of kindness helps us continue providing life-changing experiences through horse riding.
