Removing Barriers to Equestrian Activities

At Riding for Disabled Association of Queensland (RDAQ), we have been creating opportunities for people living with disability since 1985. Our roots go back to 1964, when Peter and June McIntyre began the first Australian riding program at their home in Kenmore using just two ponies. Fast forward to today, and RDAQ supports a wide network of affiliated centres across Queensland, each managed by local volunteers and accredited to strict national standards under the Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia (RDAA).

RDAQ removes barriers that prevent people with disability from accessing equestrian activities, offering programs that build confidence, self-esteem and inclusion. Our organisation provides leadership, advocacy, training and accreditation for centres while collaborating with government and industry partners. Guided by the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability, RDAQ ensures children and adults can benefit from safe, meaningful equine-assisted activities. Our impact extends beyond riders, fostering community, purpose and connection for families and volunteers alike.

If you would like to be a meaningful part of our community, whether through participating or helping, we'd love to here from you!
