Our programs

People with all types and levels of disability are welcome at TRDA.

A disability is defined as ‘any condition that restricts a person’s mental, sensory or mobility functions. It may be caused by accident, trauma, genetics or disease. A disability may be temporary or permanent, total or partial, lifelong or acquired, visible or invisible’.

The evidence is strong as to the physical, psychological, educational and social benefits of human/horse interaction.

The Toowoomba RDA Centre (TRDA) is focused on enabling as many people as possible to experience these benefits.

Currently we offer a therapeutic riding program, however, we have plans in place to enable children and adults facing a range of challenges, an opportunity to benefit from time with our specially selected horses.

We are located on 40 acres just 10 minutes from the Toowoomba CBD.

OUR THERAPEUTIC RIDING PROGRAM

TRDA is the only centre in the Toowoomba region accredited by the Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia (RDAA) to deliver a sporting and recreational riding programs to people living with disability in the Toowoomba region.

The lessons are delivered by nationally accredited coaches and trained volunteers.

Riders range in age from 3 years to 65 years and come from across social, cultural and economic backgrounds in Toowoomba and the surrounding communities.

We have specially selected horses and ponies who enable our riders to develop their abilities and achieve their personal goals away from clinical settings.
