Our most important team members
To be a member of the RDA team our horses and ponies must:
- Quiet and unflappable
- Able to tolerate traffic, strange sights and sounds, unusual mounting techniques and spasmodic movements.
- Responsive – must move forward freely and be easy to stop and steer.
- Kind and friendly on the ground – easy to catch, groom and saddle.
- Tolerate people and other horses close by
- We avoid horses that are lethargic, too keen, bad-tempered (kicking and/or biting) and those with stable vices.
Sponsoring one of our most important team members means you are investing in the unconditional love and freedom only a horse can give to many people living with disability….you are investing in building ability and confidence.
Sponsorship of $1000 will help pay for a horse’s feed, farrier, veterinary and regular medication costs.
Trevor
Trevor is a palomino Quarterhorse gelding. He’s one of our big horses at 15.3 hands high, and is our gentle giant.
Trevor’s registered name is ‘Mingos Roc Legend’.
He had an injury at a young age and was donated to RDA.
Trevor is proudly sponsored by Elizabeth Leonard.
Hazel
Hazel is a grey 15 hands Thoroughbred mare.
‘Hazel Jean’ raced for 6 months, but wasn’t interested in racing. She joined us as a four 
year old and was taking disabled riders after only a month.

Hollywood
Hollywood is a 15.2 hands Quarterhorse Cross gelding
He has been with RDA for a number of years and always looking for ways to get dirty.
Hollywood’s last job was at a feedlot. He is a bit cheeky and loves to untie his lead to go his own way.
Hollywood has four wonderful sponsors: Lachie Bianchie and his nana, Nancy; The 2021 Year 9 Class of Downlands College and the THRDA President, Ian Jillet. They are jointly sponsoring Hollywood so he can provide his special support to clients of the RDA.
Keg

Kegs is a 14.3 hands chestnut Quarterhorse gelding.
Kegs is our ‘go to’ boy
for new riders. He never puts a foot wrong.
Kegs is proudly sponsored by Burke Industries Toowoomba.
Spirit
Spirit is a gorgeous 12.3 hands Welsh Cross gelding.
Spirit is a very cheeky, taffy coloured pony. He is very fluffy and cuddly in the winter making him extra popular for cuddles.
Despite his small size Spirit does like to think he is the Head Honcho of the herd. He loves cuddles, food and looking after his young riders.
Spirit has three sponsors: the Rathmell family, the Toowoomba Payroll Team Qld Health and in loving memory of Les Haley.
Domino
Domino is a very pretty 14 hand, Stock-horse mare.
She was donated to RDAQ in April 2019 and has been a valuable member of the team every since.
In her past Domino competed in camp drafting and Australian Light Horse Troop competitions.
Domino is proudly sponsored by Herries St Dental.
Gelly
Gelly is a 15.2 hands bay Thoroughbred who was donated to RDA in 2018.
Gelly is a very gentle, sweet natured girl who is keen to give her riders a wonderful experience.
Sisters, Ann Garland and Jennifer Hall, have joined together to enable Gelly to give our riders the physical and emotional benefits of riding.
Ace
Ace is 14.1hh bay Quarterhorse gelding. Ace was donated to THRDA by Michael Pleming. Michael is a support worker for one of our riders.
Ace is currently undergoing a trial to confirm that he has all that it takes to be one of our special horses and has fitted in extremely well. He does love his carrots!!
