At last our riding program has recommenced with sessions available on Wednesday and Saturday mornings

The benefits offered to our riders are physical, psychological and social.

The RDA team work to meet the therapeutic needs and personal goals of each member. This might not even involve riding, rather a program of activities may be focused on building trust and confidence through gentle interaction with one of our horses.

All riding lessons are delivered by accredited coaches, supported by trained volunteers. Our Coaches work closely with the rider, their medical and/or education providers to develop abilities while having fun.

Safety is central to all that we do at RDA. All interaction with our horses in strictly supervised by trained volunteers. Riding lessons are conducted in a fenced arena, with one volunteer leading the horse and two side walkers to assist the rider with their balance as needed. As confidence and core strength builds riders are also taken on trial rides within the fenced 40 acres of the RDA Centre.

  • Toowoomba RDA members pay a registration fee of $130 per year to cover RDAQ insurance costs

  • Rider also pay $15 per ride. This is invoiced at the end of each term so that riders are only charged for the days they actually ride.

The NDIS may be able to help cover any costs.

Riders can use one of the RDA’s riding helmets or can purchase their own at a reduced rate through the RDA. Riders should have closed-in shoes with a heel.
