Volunteer for our centre

Riding for the Disabled can provide exciting opportunities and challenges for people interested in volunteering.

Bundaberg RDA is always looking for volunteers and we encourage people with an interest in serving their local community to make contact with us to become a much needed volunteer. We offer quality education, training and support to our volunteers and we are looking to see our coach and volunteer numbers increase so as to reduce waiting lists and increase the quality of life for those who are disadvantaged and vulnerable in our communities.

We offer horse riding programs to people of all ages with disabilities throughout our region that may include the following:

  • Intellectual
  • Physical
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Vision Impairment/Blind
  • Autism
  • Learning and Behavioural difficulties
  • Psychiatric conditions
  • Down Syndrome
  • Other

Remember the Bundaberg RDA centre is run by volunteers and without this supportive base we would have to close the doors. If you think you can assist in any way please do not hesitate to contact Bundaberg RDA. Assistance required includes but is not limited to the following areas:

  1. Side walkers
  2. Horse leaders
  3. Coaches

You do not have to have experience with horses to assist in a RDA centre, training is given and there are areas to collaborate in that are not connected with horses, such as making cups of tea and becoming a committee member. Bundaberg RDA has an amazing group of dedicated volunteers. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn the RDA way. Our centre cannot function without volunteers and we are always looking for new faces.

You don’t have to know anything about horses to help… you can be involved in horse leading, side walking, paperwork, and the general care of animals, equipment and grounds. Whatever suits you! As a volunteer, you’ll be trained and valued – and you’ll find working at Bundaberg RDA both rewarding and fun.

Volunteers are needed Wednesdays (8.00am to 2.00pm) except on school/public holidays. You can choose a day (or days!) to suit you, and you can come for an hour or two or the whole session. Any time you can spare would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to join us, contact RDA Bundaberg.
