How does RDA Queensland operate?
RDA Queensland is part of RDA Australia, which has affiliates in all states and territories of Australia . RDA Queensland operates centres throughout Queensland catering for many riders. Some centres meet for set sessions, others operate on a full time basis. Many volunteers give their time and skills to assist these groups.

Is RDA Queensland a widely recognised organisation?
Yes, RDA Queensland is closely associated with the Equestrian Federation of Australia, Pony Club of Queensland other national and international branches of RDA. Many community organisations including Rotary Clubs and charitable trusts recognise the value of the work of RDA Queensland and often provide their services or funds.

Who can ride/drive with RDA Queensland?
People from all disability groups are accepted into RDA Queensland programmes. Each participant is assessed prior to commencing so that a suitable program may be developed. Some riders with more severe disabilities are initially helped by up to two trained helpers and a leader.

How are riding classes run?
Classes are varied and include the use of games, co-ordination exercises and trail rides. Participation is encouraged in competitive and recreational equestrian events, with selection to National and International teams able bodied equestrian clubs.

Who Coaches at RDA Queensland centres?
The minimum requirement of all RDA Queensland riding coaches is a Level 1 NCAS RDA qualification. Coaches are trained in horsemanship, horsemastership, safety, medical knowledge, teaching skills, selection and training of horses and first aid. Many coaches are actively involved in generic equestrian associations and are also highly qualified and experienced in other professional fields including special education, physiotherapy and health services.
